Sewing Floor Support - 2nd shift


SUMMARY


This position is cross-trained on all jobs within the department with the exception of serging and inspecting. Position is responsible for supplying sewing department with materials and supplies, assisting with high loft pads and filling in wherever needed.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES?include the following. Other duties may be assigned.




  • Ensures all sergers are supplied with work at all times.


  • Distributes pads as evenly as possible based on style, size and weight


  • Follows priority list as determined by the Scheduling Department in supplying sergers. Ensures priority


  • pads are given to sergers to sew first.


  • Flips stacks of pads in half to keep stacks at shoulder level or below for sergers.


  • Removes empty pad boards from serging machines and places in carts for Quilting Department as????


  • needed.


  • Moves boards of pads around floor conveyor periodically to keep pads flowing evenly.


  • Moves boards from floor conveyor to serger conveyor with proper orientation to serger.


  • Compares SKU with box sticker, law labels, and bags and inserts to ensure they match then scans each item as 'packaged.'


  • Keeps skirt racks filled with proper skirt according to specs at all serging stations.


  • Reads law label to ensure accurate skirt is supplied to sergers.


  • Supplies skirt for rare SKU's as needed.


  • Picks up extra skirt rolls at end of shift and returns to Skirt Department or proper location.


  • Picks up empty skirt cores as needed throughout shift and sort in proper bins.


  • Gathers skirt waste at end of shift, weighs it and records waste weight at baler.


  • Pushes pads down in carton, closes flap and seals cartons. Places on conveyor to go to the distribution center or partials/reclaim.


  • Operates baler as needed.


  • Makes cartons as needed and hangs them on carton conveyor.


  • Assists inspectors in folding high loft pads as needed.


  • Any other duties as assigned.



SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES


This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE


No prior experience or training.


LANGUAGE SKILLS


Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS


Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers to keep accurate board counts as needed.


REASONING ABILITY


Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS


None required.


OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES


Must be able to identify all pad styles and skirt types. Must have and maintain good attendance. Must conduct responsibilities of the job in a courteous and professional manner.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Safety glasses are required when using air hoses and making cartons.



 


Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
